Electric fans and other 220V systems:
Do not use electric fan heaters in salons or cabins when the generator is not running or not on connected shore power. It is a 16A system that can withstand about 3.6KW. Generator is 11KW. Microwave oven can be run on inverter, but not at the same time as eg coffee machine. Switch off the inverter (in the main cabinet) before going to bed. This ensures that no one starts 220V systems on battery power.
Life jackets:
Life jackets Always wear life jackets when moving on deck. Skipper's responsibility
Fire-fighting equipment:
Familiarize yourself with where the equipment is. One device under the captain's table in the saloon, one device on the bench in the cockpit and one automatic device in each engine room. Fire blankets are in each cabin and by the kitchen. Test each fire alarm before sailing.
Sailing maps:
It is Skipper's responsibility that there are paper maps on board for the planned sailing area before the voyage starts. Maps can be purchased at a local bookstore in Tromsø., Norli Bokhuset: www.norli.no / +47 776 83 036 / bokhuset.tromso@norli.no / Storgata 86, 9253 Tromsø (PO Box 295, 9253 Tromsø) The digital map on the vessel navigation system is only as support for paper maps as the only valid! The skipper must also ensure that the paper maps for the sailing area have the latest endorsements (EFS date) . We recommend that Skipper also uses updated digital maps downloaded on Smartphone or PAD (Ex. Boating from Navionics) Overview of map sheets: https://www.kartverket.no/til-sjos/kart/hovedseriekart
Maps onboard: 83, 84, 86, 87, 88, 89, 91, 92, 93, 94. See Statens kartverk for latest EFS date: https://www.kartverket.no/en/at-sea/efs/search-result?FreeText=10&Filter=MostRecent
Lazy bag - Wintersailing - important!
When using a mainsail on winter sailing, it is important that the Lazy bag is closed to prevent snow from getting in. This will freeze to ice when the temperature changes. Then the sail will not be able to be raised
Fishing:
When fishing, make sure that the fishing line never get into propellar area. Prevent the fishing hook from hitting the hull of the boat. You should not throw the fishing hook, but drop it straight down to the bottom. Take it up about 1m and pull the fishing hook up and down. Use the hook to take the fish on board. Always clean fishing blood from deck! If loosing fishing hook, price is EUR 15. each. Pay for lost hooks when arrive.
Dinghy:
Ensure that the stopper (preventing seawater from entering the boat) is attached to the bottom of the dinghy before putting it on the sea. Make sure there is enough fuel in the tank before driving.
Mooring:
When mooring the boat with vertical quay posts, always lay the wooden plank (located on the starboard side) outside the fenders. Arrange access to the quay before (if possible) you dock and always remember to pay before you sail.
